Lincoln man arrested after fatal crash

Traffic collision: A man died following a collision on a Lincolnshire road, involving a Lincoln lorry driver.

A Lincoln man has been arrested following a fatal collision on the A17 at Swineshead Bridge.

Emergency services were called to the Lincolnshire road at around 1.50pm on April 13 after a collision between four vehicles.

A 45-year-old-man from Newark, the driver of a white Vauxhall Combo van, died at the scene. A HGV, red Honda Civic and black Fiat Diablo were also involved.

The driver of the lorry, a 51-year-old from Lincoln, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and is on police bail until June 14.

The other two drivers, from Boston and Ponterfact, were taken to Boston Pilgrim hospital but are not thought to be seriously injured.

Police are looking for witnesses of the incident, and asking anyone who saw the collision to contact the Collision Witness Hotline on 01522 558855.

This new fatality brings the overall number killed on Lincolnshire roads this year to 8, compared to 14 in 2011 at the same time.
