Lincoln students warned after rise in burglaries

Student burglaries: Police are warning Lincoln students to check windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes.

Lincolnshire Police are warning students in Lincoln to lock their doors and windows when they are out due to a rise in burglaries.

Between May 18 and 19, a house on Monks Road was burgled and a TV and music player stolen, due to an unlocked door.

Similarly, on May 17 an offender broke into a property through an unlocked back door on the same street and stole a laptop.

Both properties were multi-student houses.

Police are urging that all residents take responsibility in checking windows and doors are locked before leaving their home.

Criminals are opportunists and are likely to target student housing.

Call Lincolnshire Police on 101 with any information on crime or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
