Lincoln restaurateur head-to-head with Britain’s best

Kitchen Wars: Lincoln restaurant owners are going to the semifinal of a cookery show on Channel 5.

Knife-wielding superchef Marco Pierre White has challenged a Lincoln restaurateur to a culinary showdown as part of a new Channel 5 series which aired on Thursday.

Kitchen Wars pits cooking talent from around the UK against each other in a challenge to see who can prepare the best dish in under 30 minutes.

Ivano De Serio and his father-in-law Alan Ritson, who run The Old Bakery restaurant in Lincoln, were among those chosen 12 for the semifinal in London on June 21.

Ivano, who has been running The Old Bakery with his wife Tracey for eight years, prepared homemade pappardelle with duck ragout and a poached egg.

Originally from Italy, Ivano also appeared on ITV’s Britain’s Best Dish last year.

The Michelin starred chef will be scrutinising Ivano’s dish in next week’s Kitchen Wars semi-final. Contestants will be judged on their service and culinary flair.

Marco Pierre White’s Kitchen Wars semi-final airs on Channel 5 on June 14 at 9pm.
