50% of Lincoln car thefts involve unlocked cars

Car thefts: Police are warning people to make sure cars are locked, else risk getting items stolen.

Lincolnshire Police is urging Lincoln residents to lock their cars after a rise in thefts from unlocked vehicles in the city.

Presently, the force says around 50% of thefts from vehicle crimes are due to people not making sure their cars are locked at night.

A recent example includes two cars broken into overnight on August 7 and 8. Cash was stolen from an unlocked car in Manrico Drive, and a music player from a car not locked in Harricot Close.

Officer remind people to lock their cars at all times, particularly overnight, and make sure valuables are not left on display.
