Commercial burglaries in south Lincoln spike

Shop thefts: Police are wanting shop owners about a rise of commercial burglaries in the south on the city.

Lincolnshire Police are appealing for information after a number of commercial burglaries in the North Hykeham and Brant Road area.

In October and November, there were 15 shop burglary offences reported, some targeting the same premises.

Incidents include shops in The Forum on Newark Road and Redwood Drive, off Brant Road. Usually, entry is forced late at night, and items such as cash, goods and food have been stolen.

Different types of shops are targeted, including charity shops and takeaways.

Jon Hammond, Community Beat Sergeant for North Kesteven Rural said: “We’re increasing police patrols in the area and delivering crime prevention advice to shop owners.

“I would urge people to check their security measures to ensure that they do everything possible to prevent themselves from being targeted.

“Please don’t keep valuables or cash on the premises overnight and ensure that locks, alarms and security lighting are all working.”

If any sees suspicious activity around shops or has information on these burglaries, call Lincolnshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
