Jolly Brewer named Lincoln CAMRA pub of the year

Twice in three years: The Jolly Brewer pub on Broadgate has been selected as the Lincoln CAMRA branch pub of the year for 2013.

The Jolly Brewer pub on Broadgate has been selected as the Lincoln CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) branch pub of the year for 2013.

This is the second time in three years that landlady Emma Chapman has won the award. Last year’s winner was The Strugglers Inn on Westgate.

Lincoln CAMRA chairman, Bob Foulger, said: “The branch pub of the year should tick all the boxes. It should offer a range of quality real ales, real cider and perry, provide events and services for the local community, and have a strong identity that will often reflect the tastes of the licensee. Any of the four finalists would have been a worthy winner, but the Brewer just edged it this year.”

Jolly Brewer landlady Emma Chapman said: “To win this award is just amazing for us, the pub and the customers, especially after 2012, which was a really difficult year for everybody in the trade. To know that we are still doing something right gives you the incentive to carry on and keep doing what you are doing, because I do feel like giving up some times.”
