Lincolnshire Police are warning residents living in houses backing onto Hartsholme Park in Lincoln that criminals may be targeting them.
Officers believe burglars may be targeting the houses and then escaping on paths through the park.
One house was burgled between 10am and 4.30pm on Friday, March 22, on Swanholme Close. Thieves broke in through a window at the back and stole two laptops, an X-Box, a Nintendo Wii and a digital camera.
Thieves also tried to get in through a window at the back of a house in Frome Close on the same afternoon.
It is thought that offenders on bikes may be knocking on the doors of houses to check if anyone is in before carrying out the crimes.
Any witnesses to these crimes, or anyone who sees any suspicious activity in the area, including people knocking on doors, is asked to call 101 immediately.
People living in the area are also asked to make sure they lock their doors and windows and to review their security in terms of lighting and alarms.
Call 101 to report suspicious activity or give information, or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Proposals to close the Springcliffe Surgery in Lincoln’s St Catherines area have emerged, citing several compelling reasons including declining patient numbers, old infrastructure, and escalating operational costs.
Springcliffe Surgery, a branch of the larger Brant Road Surgery, currently serves a fraction of the combined 9,000 patients – providing only 20 weekly appointments compared to the main site’s 550.
