An armed stand-off with police in Lincoln has come to a safe conclusion, and a 26-year-old man has been arrested, while two other people involved are safe.

Police were called to the Moorland Avenue area in Lincoln at 7.20pm on Wednesday, June 26, after a police-installed alarm was triggered.

When police officers attended the scene at a block of flats on Shannon Avenue, they were met by a man in possession of what is thought to be a handgun.

A police firearms response was initiated and a number of residents were evacuated from neighbouring properties as a precaution.

There have been no shots fired and nobody has been injured, Lincolnshire Police said in a statement.

The area was contained and specialist police negotiators were in attendance.

Tactical Firearms Commander, Chief Inspector Daryl Pearce, said: “Thanks to the public for their patience throughout the incident.

“I am pleased to report that the incident has been brought to a safe conclusion.

“An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident will continue and more information will be available in due course.”
