Lincoln children’s festival returns to city centre

Time to shine: Children will perform for city shoppers in July as part on an annual children’s festival.

Shoppers will be entertained as they browse Lincoln High Street and uphill next month, as an annual children’s event returns.

The eighth Beam Lincoln Children’s Festival, held between July 1 and 5, will see pupils from 30 primary schools showcase their acting, singing, dancing and musical skills.

Each school is given half an hour to perform, half an hour to watch another school’s show and then 30 minutes to enjoy a drama workshop.

Lincoln BIG helps organise the event and provides schools with transport, staging and sound systems.

People can catch the talent on Lincoln High Street on the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 10am to 2pm, and also in Castle Hill on Thursday from 10am to 2pm.

Lincoln BIG Events & Promotions Organiser Rachel Hanson said: “This event remains as popular as ever and people can look forward to enjoying performances by children from Lincoln as well as the Grantham, Louth, Boston and Sleaford areas.”
