European Stone Festival at Lincoln Cathedral

Second time in the UK: More than 100 stonemasons from across the world gathered around Lincoln Cathedral for the European Stone Festival this weekend.

More than 100 stonemasons from across the world gathered around Lincoln Cathedral for the European Stone Festival, which is hosted for the second time in the UK in a decade.

This year’s main theme for carving competition is food and farming, to match the county’s heritage.

The stonemasons have until Sunday, June 23, to complete their designs, putting tools down at 2.15pm. Prizes will then be awarded for the best in each category.

After the judging, the pieces will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the Lincoln Cathedral Fabric Fund.

Alongside the European Stone Festival is the 1000 Years of Crafts event at Lincoln Castle and a Select Lincolnshire Food Fair in Castle Square.
