Police name man who drowned in Lincoln river

Drowned man named: The man who drowned in a stretch of River Witham in Lincoln at the weekend has been named by police.

The man who drowned in the River Witham on Sunday has been named by police as 31-year-old Maksims Petrovs.

He lived on Florence Street in Lincoln, nearby from where he drowned.

As previously reported, police were called to a stretch of the river near Spar Road in Lincoln, at around 8pm on August 18, after reports of a man seen to be drowning.

Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and ambulance services attended the scene and pulled him out of the river.

Maxksims Petrovs was taken to Lincoln County Hospital but unfortunately died shortly after.

Lincolnshire Police said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
