Lincolnshire Police are warning residents in Lincoln to look out for rogue traders in the city offering to do odd jobs.
A recent incident of rogue traders was on October 31 in the Sincil Bank area.
An elderly resident paid for work to remove a small tree, some earth and to replace guttering at the rear of his property. The payment for the work would be paid in instalments.
The work was carried out by a “stocky” Irish man and two Eastern European workers, but it is a poor standard.
The Irish male then informed the homeowner he would return for rest of the money.
No company details or business card has been given, and no vehicle was seen.
Police advise residents if they notice anyone calling to carry out garden/building work and are suspicious, or notice a vehicle, to contact them immediately.

A section of Lincoln High Street has been cordoned off after reports of a man stood on the ledge of High Bridge, with rescue teams on scene to remove a boat from under the bridge.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were called at 12.48pm on Tuesday when a passer-by saw a male on the ledge of High Bridge on Lincoln High Street.
