Amber warning for strong winds in Lincolnshire on Thursday

Strong winds forecast: Met Office issued an amber weather warning for wind gusts of 60 to 70mph expected across Lincolnshire on Thursday.

Met Office issued an amber weather warning for wind gusts of 60 to 70mph expected across Lincolnshire on Thursday, December 5.

Forecasters are asking people to be prepared for the potential for significant disruption due to damages caused by the expected high winds.

Within the area of the amber warning, which includes Lincoln, gusts are expected to reach 80 mph in places.

Forecasters say winds will veer northwesterly and begin to ease during the afternoon, with the strongest winds becoming confined to eastern coastal areas by the evening.

There is also the potential for significant coastal flooding along the East Coast, the Met Office said. This may include flooding affecting parts of coastal communities and travel disruption along coastal routes.
