Overnight works for a month on A46 Lincoln to Newark

Long diversions in place: The A46 between Lincoln and Newark will be closed overnight for a month for urgent resurfacing works.

The A46 between Lincoln and Newark will be closed overnight for a month for urgent resurfacing works.

The Highways Agency is carrying out the work from Monday, January 20, for four weeks.

The scheme involves both carriageways between Hykeham and Winthorpe.

The work will require full closures of each carriageway between 8pm and 6am, but not both at the same time.

Work is starting on the A46 southbound for two weeks from January 20, then northbound will be closed for two weeks from February 3.

Traffic will be diverted from the A1/A46/A17 roundabout at Newark along the A17, A15 and A57 through Lincoln to rejoin the A46 at the Carholme Roundabout, or vice versa.

Separate diversions will be in place for local traffic.

Highways Agency project manager Mark Braithwaite said: “This work will result in smoother and safer journeys for road users.

“We will be carrying out the work at night to minimise disruption, but would advise people to allow extra time for their journeys.”
