Lincoln Game closes to become UK’s first Gametronics store

Pre-loved: A Lincoln gaming shop has temporarily closed in order to reopen as the UK’s first Gametronics pre-owned store.

A Lincoln Game shop has temporarily closed in order to reopen as the UK’s first Gametronics pre-owned store.

The Lincoln Gametronics on High Street will open on February 7, making it the first of its kind in the UK, alongside a store in Cambridge.

Gametronics, a new brand name owned by GAME, aims to focus on buying and selling second hand games, consoles and accessories, phones and tablets, laptops and PCs, cameras, televisions and other gadgets.

All the items available in store will also come with a one year warranty and those who trade-in at Gametronics can use credit at GAME stores.

The Cornhill GAME shop will continue to operate as normal.

If successful in the city, GAME intends to roll out more of the new brand across the country.

The move will put the firm in direct competition with the likes of CEX, which in Lincoln is situated next door to the new Gametronics shop.

The second focus for the company is due to a better avenue for trading in products, and offering gamers and electronics consumers more affordable games and next-gen consoles.

According to the Lincoln store, customers also requested more pre-owned items than the city’s GAME stores could currently hold.

The Lincoln unit will undergo a small refurbishment before a grand opening on Friday, including a competition for customers to win goodie bags.
