The Lincolnite has been shortlisted for the Digital News Service of the Year award in the 2014 Newspaper Awards.

The awards recognise the best print and digital news media production and innovation across regional, national and international titles.

Alongside The Lincolnite, the Digital News Service category shortlist includes the websites from the Guardian, Independent, International Business Times, Fast FT, Belfast Telegraph and World Crunch.

The winners of the 2014 Newspaper Awards will be announced at an event in London on April 1.

Gary Cullum, Director of The Newspaper Awards, told Hold The Front Page this year “the quality of entry was tremendous.”

He added the shortlist “provides a showcase for all that is excellent in the newspaper industry both from this country and around the world.”

Daniel Ionescu, Managing Editor of The Lincolnite, commented: “Only to be shortlisted in these prestigious awards is a great acknowledgement of the dedicated work the team puts in every day as a service to the city of Lincoln.

“We are truly grateful for the support of our readers and partners who continue to make The Lincolnite a great digital publication,” he added.

Last year The Lincolnite also won the special Chairman’s Award in the 2013 Online Media Awards, and has also been shortlisted for the Best Local Website two years in a row in the Online Media Awards.
