Fancy dress at Lincoln academy for World Book Day

Literary appreciation: Staff and students at Lincoln Castle Academy celebrated a day devoted to literature with fancy dress.

Staff and students at Lincoln Castle Academy celebrated a day devoted to literature with fancy dress.

Harry Potter, Frodo Baggins and Sam Gamgee, Where’s Wally and Alice in Wonderland were all attending school on March 6 to take part in World Book Day.

In addition to dressing up as their favourite book character, students in Years 7, 8 and 9 were inspired by local author Georgia Twynham and learnt about how she started writing novels for teens.

Students also swapped books in a grand swapping session, took part in a lonely hearts book activity, made bookmarks, heard more stories and collected £1 book tokens.

Staff also got dressed up, with the maths department morphing into superheroes while the English department were characters from Shakespeare or John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men.
