Lincoln voted world’s best Steampunk location

Full steam ahead: Lincoln has been voted as the best location in the world for the Steampunk social movement.

Lincoln is the best location in the world for the Steampunk social movement.

The accolade comes from the international Steampunk Chronicle‘s annual Readers’ Choice Awards, where Lincoln was voted the Most Steampunk Location by readers.

The annual Steampunk festival in the city, The Asylum, was also named the Best Non-USA Convention in the awards.

Steampunk is a social gathering in which people take inspiration from Victorian and pre-war history, plus with a mix of science fiction.

The Asylum weekend in Lincoln is held yearly around the Cathedral and Castle area, bringing some of the best and most creative outfits from across the world.

The festival hosts a variety of music, fashion, comedy and more events and activities for visitors.

Anyone is invited to the Asylum festival, as newcomers are welcome to join in and experience the Steampunk community.
