Six days of disruptions ahead for Lincoln train passengers

Services affected: Union strikes and engineering works will cause disruptions for train passengers travelling to and from Lincoln between July 27 and August 1.

Union strikes and engineering works will cause disruptions for train passengers travelling to and from Lincoln between July 27 and August 1.

Strikes by the Unite union over pay and conditions will be held between July 27 and 31.

East Midlands Trains say the majority of services across the country will continue to run, however trains will be replaced by buses on the following routes:

  • Doncaster to Peterborough via Lincoln
  • Newark North Gate to Cleethorpes
  • Leicester to Lincoln: Replacement buses will operate between Leicester and Loughborough and between Nottingham and Lincoln.

Tim Sayer, Engineering Director for East Midlands Trains, said: “We’re very disappointed that Unite has chosen to take this course of action, clearly attempting to cause disruption to our customers during the start of the main summer holiday season.

“We have put forward a very reasonable and fair offer to our engineering staff, representing a 2.75% pay increase, and are extremely surprised that this offer has been rejected.”

Engineering works

On top of the strike action, planned engineering works also mean changes to East Midlands Trains timetables.

According to the amended timetable, between Monday, July 28 and Friday, August 1 services between Peterborough and Lincoln will not operate.

The 8.48pm service from Lincoln to Boston will also not operate. A replacement bus service will depart from Lincoln at 8.48pm, Metheringham at 9.09pm, Ruskington at 9.35pm and arriving in to Sleaford at 9.47pm.
