Lincolnshire PCC hopeful for future funding rewards

Valued policing: Lincolnshire PCC Alan Hardwick says the county’s policing model could help the save the government funds and secure local money too.

Lincolnshire PCC Alan Hardwick says the county’s policing model could help the government shave £1 billion of the country’s policing budget, and he is hopeful for extra funds for the force too.

In a video released by Lincolnshire Police, in response to a HMIC report which rated the force as “good” for value for money, the PCC addresses the value of policing in the county.

The PCC also addresses how government innovation funds are invested into local policing.

PCC Hardwick said: “I have invited the Home Secretary to Lincolnshire to see how we do business, to see how effective and efficient we are and to see why we got this glowing report from HMIC.

“I’m going to ask, as an interim measure, ‘could we not possibly have an interim payment? In return, we can tell you how you can shave £1 billion off police grants that the government gives’.

“On behalf of the people of Lincolnshire, I can tell you that our 1100 police officers and 149 police officers are set in stone, certainly in the next two years.”
