Restrictions in place as Newark Road undergoes emergency work

Temporary traffic lights: Restrictions and temporary traffic lights will be in place on Newark Road due to emergency work needed.

Motorists should expect three-way temporary traffic lights and turning restrictions on a Newark Road junction this week due to emergency repair work.

The lights will be situated on the junction of Newark Road, Rookery Lane and Hykeham Road between September 10 and 12.

This is due to a vehicle colliding with the traffic light control box on August 30, so Lincolnshire County Council contractors need to replace the equipment.

Drivers will be able to turn into Rookery Lane during the works, but will not be able to turn out of Rookery Lane onto Newark Road.

A signed diversion will be in place via Moorland Avenue, Tritton Road and Doddington Road.

Access to shops, property and businesses will be maintained at all times.

Tim Clark, traffic signals manager at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Unfortunately this accident has caused significant damage to our equipment so we need to replace it.

“We’ll start work on Wednesday after 9.30am, and we’re aiming to finish before rush hour starts on Friday. I’m sorry for any inconvenience the work will cause.”
