Young woman robbed in Lincoln

Robbery: Police are appealing for information after a young woman was robbed in the Portland Street area of Lincoln.

Police are appealing for information after a young woman was robbed in the Portland Street area of Lincoln.

Between around 8pm and 8.10pm on Tuesday, December 16, a 20-year-old woman was walking along the pedestrianised area that links Tentercroft Street to Kesteven Street and Portland Street, when she was approached by a man who attempted to snatch her handbag.

Officers say the pair got into a slight scuffle and the offender did not manage to take the woman’s bag, but took items from within it.

None of the items taken are thought to have been of particularly great value. The woman was not hurt, but police said she was left distressed.

Police have no clear description of the offender but it is believed he may have been pulling a wheeled bag just prior to the incident.

It is believed that two or three people were in the area at the time and may have seen what happened.

Investigating officers would like to hear from them and anyone who was in the vicinity around 8pm on December 16, even if they did not witness the robbery but have information they think might be relevant to the enquiry.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident 415/416 of December 16 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
