Staff at Yarborough Leisure Centre in Lincoln are gearing up for the official unveiling of their £1 million redevelopment, with new 2-storey gym, cycling studio and other improvements.
Ahead of the open weekend with free sessions and demonstrations on February 21 and 22, The Lincolnite was invited on a tour of the improved facilities.
As previously reported, the City of Lincoln Council committed £1.2 million to improve the facilities as well as a 10-year extension to its contract with managing charity Active Nation.
The centre, off Riseholme Road, has opened its new gym in the former squash courts with new Wattbikes, multi-station small group training rig and Octane cross trainers.
The reception, changing areas and sauna and steam rooms have also been refurbished, and the studio is in the process of being transformed into a state-of-the-art cycling studio.
Phase two, which will get underway in the coming weeks will include a new swimming pool roof and refresh of the communal shower area.

Active Nation Contract Manager Stuart Blackburn said: “The whole team at Yarborough Leisure Centre is very proud of the venue and everything it has to offer, thanks to the brilliant redevelopment.
“We would like to thank the City of Lincoln Council for their investment and support to help us persuade more people from Lincoln to be active.
“We are excited about this weekend where we’ll be inviting people to come and experience our improved facilities first hand with free sessions in the fantastic new gym and studios as well as free swimming.”
During the centre’s opening weekend, people are invited to enjoy free workouts, classes and free casual swimming, as well as a tour of the improved facilities.
Staff say that prices are expected to remain at the current level and they are taking on new members currently.
