New service providers for two Lincoln GP surgeries

Service provider change: NHS England has named new providers for services at two GP practices in Lincoln from April 1.

NHS England has named new providers for services at two GP practices in Lincoln from April 1.

Arboretum Surgery on Monks Road will be run by Universal Health Ltd, a partnership between Lincolnshire and District Medical Services and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The University of Lincoln Surgery at Brayford Pool will be in the hands of Danum Medical Services Ltd (DMSL), a GP-owned company based in Doncaster which currently manages a number of practices and out of hours GP services in northern England.

Providers were invited to bid to run the services, in line with European law, as the surgeries have contracts ending on March 31 this year.

The new contract holders who will manage the surgeries from April 1 are independent businesses, owned and managed by GP partnerships, or other organisations.

Dr Neal Parkes, Joint Chief Executive of Universal Health Ltd, said: “We are looking forward to being able to further develop what is on offer to patients and ensuring that their experience remains at the forefront of our service delivery.”

Darren Johnson, DMSL’s Finance Director and Company Secretary, said: “We are very pleased at being awarded the contract for University Health Centre and look forward to giving the patients high-quality health care that is accessible to them and their needs.”

NHS England has confirmed that registered patients at the surgeries can continue to use their practices as normal.

The locations, telephone numbers and all existing services and contact details will remain the same and the surgeries will continue to offer the same services to patients using a number of existing staff, but under different supervision.

Di Pegg, Head of Primary Care for NHS England (Central Midlands), said: “We have written to each registered patient to introduce their new provider and advise them that they will continue to be included on their practice list, so will not need to take any action.”
