Temporary traffic lights added at Lincoln Canwick Road junction

Temporary traffic lights: Additional traffic lights will be in place at the Washingborough Road junction with Canwick Road in Lincoln for two days.

Update, 4pm February 19: Due to heavy rain fall, which held a risk of collapsing deep excavation, Lincolnshire County Council say the work will now take place on Friday, February 20 and Monday, February 23.

Additional traffic lights will be in place at the Washingborough Road junction with Canwick Road in Lincoln for two days.

The lights at the Washingborough Road junction, will apply between 9am and 3pm on Thursday, February 19 and Friday, February 20.

The temporary lights, under three-way-control, are expected to create delays in addition to the ongoing £4.5 million scheme to improve Canwick Road in the city.

Lincolnshire County Council say the lights will be manually controlled during these periods to ensure traffic is kept moving.

Outside of these times the temporary lights will be put back to two way control as has been in place so far.

A County Council spokesperson said: “A deep excavation is being made across the carriageway immediately south of Washingborough Road to install carriageway surface drainage pipes. The only way to do this safely is to reduce the road width to shuttle working.

“The work is taking place this week as traffic is much lighter being half term, and is being done outside of peak hours.”
