Man vs motor: Lincoln strongmen host event in friends’ memory

Watch the video: Crowds gathered in Lincoln as Dave Johnson and Craig Collins shifted a fire truck and an Audi A4 for charity.

Lincoln strongman Dave Johnson and friend Craig Collins, put all their muscle behind hauling an 18 tonne fire truck and an Audi A4 in front of crowds at St Marks Shopping Centre in Lincoln.

Hundreds made their donations and gathered in the city centre for the event on Saturday, July 18.

The fifth annual fundraiser adds to a series of steadily growing challenges set by Dave in memory of an old friend Mark Browne and Lincoln boy Ethan Maull, who passed away last year.

Dave Johnson said: “Mark had terminal cancer diagnosed back in 2010. We started the event then and agreed to continue doing so for charity for as long as I can do it in his memory, the events are always in memory of Mark and Ethan.”

Dave deadlifted a fully fuelled Audi A4 weighing around 450 kilos for 90 seconds.

For the first year he was joined by friend Craig, who pulled along the 18-tonne fire truck.

As well as donations taken on the day, people can donate to Ethan Maull’s Foundation on the JustGiving page here.

A Macmillan JustGiving page was also set up for the event in Mark Browne’s memory.
