Several wheelie bins and a van have been deliberately set on fire in Lincoln this week.

Police have received reports that the bins were set alight on Macaulay Drive over the last two days.

Other bins in the Wragby Road area of the city have been set on fire in the last week.

A van was also set on fire in the early hours of Friday, July 24, on Retief Close in the Ermine, with another nearby vehicle damaged by heat.

A spokeswoman for Lincolnshire Police said: “We would like to strongly remind people that this type of behaviour can have very serious consequences.

“Many wheelie bins sit close to houses and gardens and if they are set alight it can have a potentially disastrous outcome.

“What if the fire were to catch and result in a house fire, with occupants inside? We would urge anyone involved in this type of behaviour to remember that.”

Anyone with information on the fires should contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 132 of July 23.
