Virgin serves up extra trains and ‘red hot’ uniforms in time for Lincoln sausage festival
Extra trains: Extra Virgin Trains will run between London and Lincoln in order to support upcoming city festivals – just as staff don new ‘red hot’ uniforms.
Extra Virgin Trains will run between London and Lincoln in order to support upcoming city festivals – just as staff don new ‘red hot’ uniforms.
Additional trains will run on Saturday, October 24 and Saturday, October 31 to coincide with the Lincoln Sausage Festival and Frequency Festival.
The outbound services will depart London King’s Cross at 9.10am and arrive in Lincoln at 11.03am. The return southbound services will depart Lincoln at 5.15pm and arrive back at London King’s Cross at 7.11pm.
The popular Lincoln Sausage Festival returns to Lincoln Castle grounds on Saturday, October 24, with stands and demonstrations from the county’s sausage experts.
The festival runs 10am until 5pm on Saturday.
Friday, October 23 also sees the launch of the week-long Frequency Festival of digital arts and culture.

Emma Tatlow, Partnership Manager at Visit Lincoln, said: “Lincoln’s Magna Carta 800th celebrations continue with the Frequency Festival of Digital Culture. This festival brings fantastic digital installations into historic venues across the city.
“This year’s theme is ‘Liberation’, highlights include Seepers ‘The one, the few and the many’ that will illuminate the castle.
“For a more traditional taste of Lincolnshire – head to the Lincoln Sausage Festival. This is a firm favourite and you’ll enjoy some of the county’s finest – and most famous produce!”
Virgin Trains has operated an extra four services as part of the summer of Magna Carta 800 celebrations earlier this year.
David Horne, Virgin Trains Managing Director, said: “The response to our extra direct services has been popular amongst customers and communities in Lincoln and beyond.
“Our great value fares and fast journey times have helped deliver hundreds of extra visitors to the city this year.”

The news of extra services comes as Virgin also unveiled a new look for staff working on its east coast route.
Staff will be wearing what Virgin describes as ‘red hot’ new uniforms and using new smartphones to improve communication.
