Mini Barons to blaze brand new trail through Lincoln city centre

Second Baron trail: Visitors to Lincoln and locals are being encouraged to look out for some familiar faces in the run up to Christmas, with the return of a new Baron trail in the city.

Visitors to Lincoln and locals are being encouraged to look out for some familiar faces in the run up to Christmas, with the return of a new Baron trail in the city.

Shops, bars, restaurants, estate agents, and other businesses around Lincoln will be displaying their own individually painted Mini Baron statues from November 20 to Christmas Eve.

The Lincoln Barons’ Charter Christmas Festival will round off the city’s celebrations of the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta.

The barons will be auctioned off for charity next month.

The Mini Barons were created as a response to the popularity of the Lincoln Barons’ Charter Trail in the city centre, which raised £167,000 for the Trussell Trust.

With over one month having passed since the auction, a number of Barons have reappeared in Lincoln and the surrounding areas.

Matt Corrigan, Chief Executive of Lincoln BIG, said: “These Barons, which have been modelled on a Lewis Chess piece, are a great reminder of the full-sized trail Barons.

“These cute characters will be keeping a slightly lower profile than their bigger cousins, and will be spotted hiding in windows of shops and businesses. We are challenging people to see how many they can find.”

People can buy their own Mini Baron to paint and decorate at home from Lincoln Visitor Information Centre at £9.95 each.
