A new upmarket kitchen showroom will open in the Bailgate after a £150,000 investment.

Building work has already started on a new shop front in the former Biggers of Bailgate store as it gets set to reopen its doors in June as Krantz Designs.

The transformation and new ownership of the former kitchen supply shop will allow the company to create three full time equivalent positions for the area.

The planning application, submitted to the City of Lincoln Council, proposes a new shop front, which would be in keeping with the current style in the Bailgate area.

Founded in 2004 Krantz Designs is currently based in Think Tank on Lincoln’s Science and Innovation Park. The company specialises in bespoke kitchens, fitted furniture and wet-room bathrooms in the UK and across Europe.

Jamie Krantz, Managing Director of Krantz Designs said: “We chose uphill Lincoln because it has so much going for it.

“I moved to Lincoln a year and a half ago and fell in love it so moved my business over from Swinderby.

“The Bailgate is just fantastic and we have a great relationship with Peter Bigger, which has been really helpful.”

Over the last year Krantz Designs has seen substantial growth after being featured on Grand Designs, winning the Product Innovation award and Channel 4’s Sarah Beanies Double Your House For Half The Money.

“For us Lincoln is the future, we want to generate more work and I think that the showroom will really help us to do that,” Jamie said.

Bigger of Bailgate was one of the oldest family-run businesses in Lincoln. It shut up shop in January after over 70 years of trading.
