Two Lincoln GP surgeries have been commended by a leading health watchdog for providing quality services to their patients.

Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission carried out a review of Springcliffe Surgery on St Catherine’s and Brant Road Surgery in the middle of April this year.

Both practices were judged to provide good care for all age groups and conditions, and provided safe, caring, responsive and effective services, with a high standard of leadership.

The rating of ‘good’ for Springcliffe Surgery was a significant improvement on its previous inspection in June 2015, where breaches of regulations relating to the safe delivery of services were identified.

To improve, the surgeries were both told to review the process of reporting significant events to include non-clinical incidents and near misses.

Rebecca Neno, deputy chief nurse at Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We’re really pleased to see two surgeries secure much deserved good ratings – in this case Brant Road and Springcliffe.

“It is important staff carry out an effective and caring service in a safe environment. This is really positive news.”

Springcliffe Surgery serves 2,471 registered patients while the larger Brant Road Surgery has 7,198 patients registered at the practice.
