A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 16-year-old girl who went to school in Lincoln.

As previously reported, Hannah Pearson, of Marston, died after being rushed to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham following an incident in Newark at the weekend.

Ambulance crews tried to resuscitate the girl but she died shortly after arriving at hospital.

James Morton, 23, of Pierson Street, Newark, was charged with Hannah’s murder and appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on July 28.

He was remanded in custody until the next hearing.

A provisional trial date has been set for January 16 next year.
