Action has been taken against Persimmon Homes Limited in North Hykeham after the building company ignored an order to build a new bus stop on the development site.

Despite negotiations, the requirement of a new bus stop off Station Road in North Hykeham, issued by North Kesteven District Council, is five months overdue.

The council had granted planning permission for a residential development of 310 homes on the former Lincoln Casting site in Station Road, North Hykeham.

Persimmon Homes (Yorkshire) Limited is developing the site and its parent company Persimmon Homes Limited owns the site and a parcel of land next to the existing railway station car park.

Under the conditions of the planning permission are the requirements to provide a 65-space car park and a bus stop, shelter and pedestrian crossing.

While the car park works are required to be completed by February 2017, the bus stop works were due to be completed by February this year.

Despite negotiations, this has not happened.

The enforcement notice requires the bus stop works to be completed. Persimmon Homes Limited has a right to appeal, which expires on August 3. If no appeal is received, works will need to be finished four weeks from that date.

Councillor Mike Gallagher, Deputy Leader of North Kesteven District Council, said: “The notice has been issued to ensure that people are able to benefit from the essential new infrastructure required to be provided by Persimmon Homes.

“While it is unfortunate that we’ve had to take this action, NK will robustly seek to see all applicants conform to conditions laid down by the authority.”

Persimmon Homes have been contacted by The Lincolnite for a statement, but have not responded at the time of publishing.
