Man dies after car crashes into Lincolnshire river

A man has sadly died after his car entered the river near Crowland, bringing the number killed on Lincolnshire’s roads to 39 so far this year.

As reported earlier this morning, the incident happened around 8pm on Wednesday, August 24 on the B1166 at Deeping High Bank.

The man was rescued from VW Golf and taken to Peterborough hospital but he sadly died.

Identification procedures are ongoing and Lincolnshire Police are unable to confirm any further details about the victim at this time.

A recovery operation is underway to remove the vehicle from the water.
