Lincoln strongman Dave Johnson was a picture of sheer determination when he hauled two grown men and a 7.5 tonne truck across a Lincoln shopping precinct.

The fundraiser in aid of the Ethan Maull ‘Up Yours To Cancer’ Foundation and Olivia’s Journey, was the latest in a series of inspiring weightlifting challenges in memory of Dave’s friend Mark Browne, who passed away in 2012 after a battle with cancer.

Dave, 36, was watched on by Mark’s daughter Mercedes and around 100 other cheering supporters at St Mark’s Shopping Centre on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon.

Cheers rang out when Dave lifted the strongman yoke, carrying two people with a combined weight of over 42 stone. Despite being forced to drop the volunteers midway down the runway, he insisted on completing the full length still pulling the truck.

The personal trainer said he’d suffered an ankle injury when he was assaulted at work, but had made a promise to his friend Mark he’d do an event every year no matter what.

Dave raised £210 between the truck pull and a charity bench press and deadlift on Saturday.
