E-fit released after attempted abduction of young boy on Lincolnshire border

Police have released an e-fit of a “bearded and spotty” man they’re looking for in connection with an attempted abduction near to the Lincolnshire border.

Officers received a report at around 6.30pm on Friday, August 12 that a 12-year-old boy had been walking alone on Church Lane in Tickhill near Doncaster when he was approached by a man who asked him to get in the back.

He ran away from the scene and did not sustain any injuries.

The man was described as white, in his 20s and spotty with dark hair and a beard. He was reportedly wearing a grubby high visibility jacket.

The van involved in the alleged abduction was small and blue with yellow stripes along the side and back.

Anyone with information relating to the incident should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1072 of August 18.

String of incidents

There have been a number of reports of attempted abductions in Greater Lincolnshire and the surrounding areas in recent weeks.

  • At the beginning of the month, three toddlers were allegedly grabbed by men in the Grimsby area.
  • An 11-year-old boy reportedly escaped from five men who attempted to put him in the back of a van in Scunthorpe this week.
  • A 12-year-old girl in Scunthorpe also reported she was inappropriately touched when out walking her dog.
  • Police are also trying to locate a young woman from Hull who was seen escaping from a man who tried to grab her and put her in the 4×4 he was driving.
