A man has threatened to jump off the Humber Bridge this afternoon.

Humberside Police were called to an incident at around 12pm, where they received reports that a man was standing on the wrong side of the railings.

They subsequently closed the A63 on the North Bank for a hour while the man was persuaded not to jump.

The road was re-opened in both directions at around 12.55pm.

There was mass delays in both directions and motorists were told to avoid the area.

Officers were able to bring the man down from the bridge.

A spokesperson for the force said: “He is now with officers safe and well.”
