Two separate crashes have closed the A16 in the south of Lincolnshire this morning, with reports of serious injuries.

Lincolnshire Police were first called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of the A16 and the the A151 Holbeach Road, between McDonald’s and Morrisons.

A spokesperson for the force confirmed that there were injuries but the severity of them is not yet known.

However, a second two-vehicle crash later this morning involving a lorry and a car has resulted in serious injuries.

The crash happened one mile south of the Sutterton roundabout, with two vehicles ending up in a ditch.

A third vehicle is also believed to have been involved in the collision.

Two ambulances and an air ambulance are at the scene.

The A16 is currently closed between the Sutterton and Surfleet roundabouts because of the accidents.

A diversion is in place, directing traffic via the A152 and A52.
