A 15-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to the murders of a Spalding dinner lady and her 13-year-old daughter.

The bodies of church goer Elizabeth Edwards, 49, and her daughter Katie, 13, were found at a semi detached property in Dawson Avenue, Spalding on April 15 this year.

Police later charged a 14-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy with two charges of murder.

Both cannot be named or identified for legal reasons.

The boy, now 15, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, October 10, where he was asked to enter pleas to the two murder charges.

Wearing a grey hooded top, green t-shirt and black trousers the boy answered a firm “guilty” when he was first asked if he had murdered Elizabeth Edwards between April 12 and 15 this year.

He was then asked if he had murdered Katie Edwards between the same dates and again firmly answered “guilty,” showing no other reaction.

His case was adjourned for further reports and he was remanded in to custody by Mr Justice Haddon-Cave.

He will be sentenced at the conclusion of the trial of the girl, now 15, who denies two charges of murder.
