A Louth man has been charged after allegedly spitting at a police officer.

Gareth Harpham, 32, of Beech Grove, Louth, has been charged with being drunk and disorderly in a public place and assaulting a constable in the execution of their duties.

The incident happened on October 23 at around 12.30am outside a nightclub on Eastgate in the town.

As well as the alleged spitting incident, there was also an alleged assault by the same person on door staff at the nightclub.

Harpham is currently on unconditional bail and a court date has yet to be set.
