Lincolnshire County Council was unaware that such government money was on offer.

Councillor Richard Davies, portfolio holder for highways, said: “Any extra money for improving our roads is always welcome, and we’ll be working hard to ensure Lincolnshire gets its fair share of the pot.

We weren’t aware that the government was making this money available, and we look forward to receiving further details on how the process will work.

“Once we have that information, we’ll be better placed to comment on what improvements can be made.”
