Lane closures remain as repairs to burst water main in Boston extended

Anglian Water’s repairs to a burst water main in Boston are now set to continue into December.

As previously reported, the water main on John Adams Way burst on November 10, causing traffic chaos in the area.

The lane closure on southbound carriageway is now expected to remain in place until December 7.

An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “Work is continuing on John Adams Way to repair the water main there.

“It has been a significant engineering challenge with a number of other essential utilities and services under the road and sitting on top of our damaged main that we must navigate.

“We have to be extremely careful when working around these other pipes and cables to ensure they are not damaged, and that can make work slower than we would like.

“Unfortunately we will need to continue working throughout next week. We expect to be finished by December 7 and will be doing everything possible to finish earlier than that.

“Customers’ water supplies are not affected, but we do understand that we’re working on a main road (A16).

“One lane of the John Adams southbound carriageway remains open to keep travel disruption to a minimum.

“We are grateful to customers and road users for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused by this lane closure.”
