A man who told a judge he was a “f*****g d******d” while he was being sentenced for throwing a knife on a Lincolnshire caravan park has been jailed for 10 and half months.

Charlie Patrick, 21, admitted being in contempt of court after he swore and stuck his fingers up at Judge Simon Hirst during the hearing at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, December 16.

Patrick was taken down to the cells after the judge halted the sentence and later apologised when he was returned to court.

The court heard Patrick had admitted throwing a knife towards a group a people standing in a plaza at the Happy Days caravan site in Chapel St Leonards.

Lincoln Crown Court heard Patrick, who lived on the site, had been drinking heavily and was upset with another man who he believed had been having an affair with his girlfriend.

Patrick was challenged by the site manager but went back in to his flat, the court was told.

Police attended and recovered the knife.

During police interview Patrick admitted he had been drinking heavily and was upset.

Neil Sands, mitigating, said Patrick had been trying to make a fresh start after moving to Lincolnshire from a tough estate in Camberley.

Mr Sands added: “When he isn’t wound up and in drink he is a sensible, rational human being.”

Patrick admitted possessing a bladed article and threatening behaviour following the incident on September 30.

Passing sentence Judge Hirst told Patrick: “At about 6pm you were stood outside your flat at the Happy Days caravan site in Chapel St Leonards.

“You were shouting and swearing at people in the court yard, people you thought had aggrieved you.

“You had a knife, which I have seen, and threw it at the people in the court yard. Fortunately no one was injured.”

Judge Hirst sentenced Patrick to 10 months imprisonment and ordered him to serve an extra 14 days for the contempt of court.
