The threat of a potential Lincolnshire storm surge on the coastline has not gone away, despite this morning’s high tide passing without incident.

Lincolnshire Police Chief Constable Neil Rhodes and Ian Reed from Lincolnshire County Council’s emergency planning department spoke to Lincolnshire Reporter about the potential risks of a storm surge later today.

The Chief Constable said: “The threat has receded marginally and spread out in time. The wind from the sea is not coming at exactly the same time as the high tide.

“What that has meant is that our period of exposure is longer. It’s absolutely important that we stay on this.

“This has not gone away yet. With a little luck, we will see this out together and we will be on duty until it’s seen through.”

The next high tide is at around 6.30pm.
