A Bourne man who admitted a series of sex offences against young girls has been jailed at Lincoln Crown Court.

Ean Smith, 60, pleaded guilty to six charges of sexual assault between July 2013 and December 2016.

He was jailed for a total of four years and three months and placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.

Smith was also given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order intended to control his behaviour when he is released from his prison sentence.

Richard Sheldon, prosecuting, told the court that two girls were indecently touched by Smith.

Mr Sheldon said that a complaint was subsequently made to police and following his arrest Smith was twice interviewed by officers.

He made no admissions during the interviews but when he appeared in court he entered guilty pleas to the charges he faced.

John McNally, in mitigation, said that Smith had no previous convictions and after the offences came to light he made serious attempts to harm himself.

Mr McNally said “He does not seek to minimise his culpability. He accepts it happened and he accepts he should not have done it.

“How it came to pass is difficult to explain.”
