A driving instructor has been given the shock of his life after a tree fell right in front of his car in Spalding.

Paul Smith of the LDC Driving School stopped seconds before the tree came crashing down during the middle of Storm Doris.

He said: “Feeling very lucky that I managed to stop before I became a pancake due to this tree falling in Spalding this morning near the old Johnson Hospital. Thanks Doris!

“Need a strong coffee or something a little more powerful!”
