Icy roads cause spate of crashes across Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire Police have reminded drivers to take extra care on roads this morning after a number of crashes were reported across the county.

Delays are continuing on the A46 at Nettleham after a vehicle left the road at around 7.30am, crashing into a hedgerow.

Emergency services were called to the scene and drivers reported long tailbacks during rush hour.

It is not yet clear if anyone has been injured as a result of the collision.

Road are particularly icy this morning. Lincolnshire County Council has stated that a full run of the salted network was carried out during the night, however some frosty and icy patches have still formed.

Lincolnshire Police issued a warning on social media stating: “Please take care whilst driving this morning. Numerous road traffic collisions reported within the last hour due to icy road in the county.”

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have also attended a number of collisions during the morning. On the A15 in Dunsby, crew used sitting gear to free one driver after their car crashed into hedging.
