Investigations have begun following the death of a man at a haulage firm last week.

A 38-year-old Bulgarian national was killed following an accident at Immingham Transport on Humber Road in South Killingholme on Friday, February 24.

Police were called to the scene at 2.45pm by ambulance crews.

At the time of writing the cause of death is unknown.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Investigations are underway after a 38-year-old man sadly died at a business in Humber Road, South Killingholme.

“We were called to the scene by the ambulance service at around 2.45pm on Friday, February 24.

“The man was pronounced dead at the scene and while he is still to be formally identified, he is understood to be a Bulgarian national who had been living in London.

“The matter has been left in the hands of North Lincolnshire Council. Our thoughts are with his family.”

Health and Safety officials have now opened an investigation into the fatal accident.

A spokesperson for North Lincolnshire Council said: “We can confirm that North Lincolnshire Council is investigating a fatal accident at a business address in South Killingholme on February 24.

“We cannot comment any further at this stage.”

Lincolnshire Reporter has contacted Immingham Transport but at the time of publication is waiting for a response.
