Plans have been submitted for 68 new homes to be built in a village to the south of Gainsborough.

The proposed development submitted by Lea Lincs Properties Ltd would see the houses built on land at Willingham Road, Lea.

The application site comprises approximately 8.93 hectares of land, which is located immediately to the south of the village framework of Lea, which lies approximately 2.5 km south of Gainsborough.

If plans go ahead, properties, predominantly of late 20th century construction and mainly of red brick would be built over two storeys.

Previously, a planning application was submitted and approved for the development of the current application site, along with additional land further to the south.

This consent allowed for the development of a mix of uses, including:

  • Open market housing
  • Golf course
  • Hotel
  • Residential care home

Whilst this previous planning permission was never implemented, this former consent does indicate that the application site is considered suitable for appropriate development of the right scale, including open market housing.

Councillors will consider whether to approve the application at a later date.
