Lincoln hockey star Georgie Twigg has spoken of her delight at the interest people are taking in the sport following Team GB’s memorable gold medal at the Rio Olympics.
Georgie, who started playing hockey at the age of seven at St Mary’s school in Lincoln and Lincoln Hockey Club, played a key role in the team’s progress through the tournament, culminating in a dramatic victory of favourites The Netherlands in the final.
The Olympic athlete went to take a sneak peek of new gym The Fitness Space on Brayford Wharf, where she spoke about life after Rio, admitting that the months following the gold medal have been “a bit crazy”.
The gym, which offers unique DNA technology, opens on April 1.

Nearly a year on from their triumph, the girls’ lives have returned to normal with Georgie now concentrating on her legal career.
However, she is thrilled to see how much interest the win has given the sport and is continuing to support sporting projects in the county.
